Known affectionately by her friends as Rosebud, she is the head instructor in Lake Tahoe for us babes, that’s Babes in the Tahoe Back-country.

We like to call her Rock Star, based on those ski moves.

Meet Rosie Hackett.

For years, Rosie has been teaching backcountry babes everything from telemarking, snowboarding, rock climbing and mountaineering.

Rosie does it all and is highly qualified. She’s a Wilderness First Responder and Adult Rescuer, AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Instructor Certification, PSIA Level III Nordic Downhill (Telemark) Instructor, Level I & II & III Avalanche (American Avalanche Institute-JHMG), PSIA Level II Snowboard Instructor.

If that’s not enough, she is also the Wilderness Education Program Director at Sierra Nevada College so backcountry practitioners can become fully accredited in their own home town, and locals can learn skills for the mountains and have fun. As a breeding ground for mountain guides, it was a natural fit for Sierra Nevada College to offer accreditation classes to Tahoe’s mountain culture.
