South Shore author, Todd Borg, just won the Ben Franklin Award for Best Mystery of the Year for Tahoe Silence.
It’s a thrilling mystery about a kidnapping of an artist in Tahoe featuring the fearless Detective Owen McKenna and his dog Spot – a Great Dane – who loves to chase down the bad guys.
This national award is presented by the Independent Book Publishers Association, with more than 4,000 publisher members.
Congratulations Todd!
Tahoe Silence is about a girl named Silence Ramirez. Silence is an exceptional artist and, according to one of her teachers, brilliant.
She’s also autistic and mute and has not spoken a single word in her 17 years. But she has an extremely valuable secret.
When Silence is kidnapped on the eve of the Tahoe Biker Heaven festival, Detective Owen McKenna and his Great Dane Spot pursue a notorious biker gang and a kidnapper who will stop at nothing, including murder, to get what he wants.
Time to save the girl is short. Silence knows the reason she was kidnapped, but that knowledge is locked up inside her mind…
Borg is author of four other Tahoe-set mysteries: Tahoe Deathfall, Tahoe Blowup, Tahoe Ice Grave and Tahoe Killshot. Borg has received countless awards and accolades for all of his books.
Best of all is how Todd weaves Tahoe culture into his books. Like Detective Owen McKenna, who lives in a 500 square foot cabin. His dog, Spot – a Great Dane (OK that’s a little bit of a stretch, but Spot is a Tahoe dog – loyal and lovable). And his appreciation of and profound connection with art.
