John Mauriello’s lost pizza recipe… the inspiration for an art show and a community-wide fundraising effort?

Sounds implausible, I know.

But then there was the burnt Christmas tree too. And what we end up with is this: “Tahoe: Lost & Found”. Because one year ago, our community was brought together by the Angora Fire in a most amazing and profound way.

And where did that energy go? It’s still here. I know it is, because I cried when I read in the Mountain News that John’s first attempts at post-fire pizza tasted like “crap”.

And I don’t think I’m alone in this.

“Tahoe: Lost & Found” is a community art show. It’s also an attempt to connect with those folks out in the burn area and the firefighters, to see how they’re doing and to let them know we’re still thinking of them.

And hopefully, it’s a chance to rekindle the sense of community that we found during the fire, by inspiring all of us to our own ways of giving.
