SierraStories405“Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots and Rogues” is a fantastical journey about unusual and lesser-known stories of Sierra Nevada history.  Written by Sierra Nevada College historian and Sierra Nevada native Gary Noy, some stories are adventurous, some are horrifying, some are inventive, but all are fascinating windows into our history in the breathtaking Range of Light.

SierraStoriesGaryNoyTwo journeys touch on historical aspects of Lake Tahoe, Donner Pass, Truckee, Carson Pass, and Hope Valley.  The 1844 journey of the Murphy-Townsend-Stephens Party from Iowa to California and the 1848 story of Melissa Coray and the Mormon Battalion traveling from California to Salt Lake City.

The book features sixty-five historic photographs.
