This family run business has been baking organic breads in Tahoe Vista since 1983.
They’ve even made a muffin that has all the health benefits of eating fish!
John and Lisa McDonald started out making their Tahoe Gelato line of Cannolis and Cassatas which quickly followed with the launch of Sierra Grains Organic Breads.
This mountain organic pan bread, wheat sourdoughs and English muffins have no cane sugar, white flour, preservatives, saturated fat or cholesterol.
Dedicated to making the most nutritious breads possible, their Omega Muffins (pictured above) have all the health benefits of eating fish and foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids.
Omega Muffins are made with a blend of seeds that naturally contain the same omega-3 acids that are found in fish such as hemp, chia, flax and poppy seeds. For those who can’t eat fish or don’t care for fish, now it’s easy to add these essential fatty acids to our diets. Omega Muffins are also rich is protein and manganese, are cholesterol free, and a good source of fiber and heart healthy soy.
The secret to their high quality nutritional breads? They grind their own flour from organic grains just before baking. Now that’s some care and special attention.
You can find Sierra Grains Organic Breads at Raley’s in Incline Village and South Lake Tahoe at the Y, Tahoma Market, and New Moon Natural Foods in Tahoe City and Truckee.
