This new, locally-made jewelry is light as a…well, as a piece of paper!
Or a few pieces of paper that is.
The recycled papier mache earrings and necklaces are durable, with up to eight layers of laminated paper that are then painted and varnished for strength, and topped with beads.
Melissa Lanitis Gregory creates the jewelry in her studio in South Shore, along with other decorative and somewhat functional art.
(Doesn’t everyone need a ceremonial helmet?)
