Phoenix Unveiled at Lost & Found Art Party August 11 @ 6pm – Elevation 6310

It’s time she takes flight at Elevation 6310.

Phoenix Rising by South Shore illustrator, Kristen Schwartz, will be unveiled at the Tahoe: Lost & Found Art Party, August 11 at 6 pm.

$95 was raised in donations! Thank you.

When Kristen finished her Lake Mother illustration the day the Angora Fire was contained last year, she immediately wanted to create an illustration to capture our rebirth and recovery; a symbol of hope for Tahoe.

She chose the phoenix, a mythical sacred fire bird that rises out of the ashes following calamity.

Phoenix Rising is Kristen’s interpretation of the mythical bird.

She will be revealed in her entirety at the Tahoe: Lost & Found Art Party on August 11 at Elevation 6310 to help raise money to replace the library books lost in the homes affected by the Angora fire and a burn-area landmark. Click here to learn more about the project.

In addition to the unveiling, a limited edition of Lake Mother and Phoenix Rising prints will be sold to help raise money. Special guest Ethan Niven will also reveal the Phoenix he painted on a king size bed sheet in response to the fire last year. Ethan and his family live in the Angora area, but their house was spared.

Local artists Barbara Wesson (potter), Shelley Hocknell Zentner (painter), and Melissa Lanitis Gregory, mixed media artist who creates bowls, earrings and art helmets (like the Sonnet Bonnet featured here) out of recycled paper will also present a selection of their art work and talk about Tahoe: Lost & Found.
