Not sure why it’s called a spa, unless you are the one cooking the juicy charbroiled burgers over the searing flame.

Or maybe it’s pure marketing genius to attract people thinking they’ll get a burger and a spa treatment.  Brilliant!

Nonetheless, Izzy’s burgers are delicious surrounded by a classic Tahoe burger-joint ambiance.

Izzy’s Burger Spa located on Hwy 50 in South Lake Tahoe next to a gym…has been around for 30 years.   Their recipe for success is simple.

Consistently good, you’ll find juicy charbroiled burgers that drip down your sleeves. The Bonsai burger with freshly grilled pineapples and Teriyaki sauce and the Bacon Cheddar burger are local hits.  Not just burgers, the chicken sandwiches are tender and juicy with an authentic char grilled taste.   Finally, rounding out your spa experience are hearty onion rings and fries which are the larger thick-cut steak fries.  Order them crispy. You can also order hot dogs, fish ‘n chips and a fresh garden salad — which may be that spa connection or is it the gym next door?

No wi-fi or computers, but you can play a game of Pac-Man and read the Americana snake oil advertisements that make up the table tops inside.  More tables are located on the patio and they’ll happily bring the food out to you.

Prices are more than reasonable and the service is good. Phone in your order and you’ll jump to the front of the line when you show up. A definite must try when you’re in South Shore.
