A self admitted “glassaholic”, Lynn McGeever is passionate about glass.
So much so that she has explored many facets used in the creation of art glass including glassblowing and making the intricate inclusions found in many of her pieces.
Lynn’s current work includes “mosaic inspired” fused glass.
Lynn McGeever, owner of Great Panes Art Glass, is a native Californian and has lived in North Lake Tahoe since 1981.
She is passionate about glass and has relentlessly pursued education in a variety of hot and cold glass forms. She started out with stained glass in the late 1970’s and admits she was “not very good” at soldering. After taking a class in fusing and design, Lynn bought her first kiln in 1986. Since then she has furthered her education in other glass techniques including both glassblowing and torch work. Most recently, Lynn attended a glass conference about many uses and applications of architectural glass as well as classes in kiln casting.
Lynn creates her own inclusions in her fused glass. Some of the intricate elements she made through glassblowing, and some with her glass torch. Other elements are handmade copper as well as handmade gold leaf and silver leaf inclusions.
Each glass piece is an original design, hand crafted and signed by Lynn. Lynn’s work is currently available at North Tahoe Arts in Tahoe City as well as the Nevada Museum of Art gift shop in Reno, NV.
Lynn’s studio is located in Tahoe City and is open by appointment anytime. Please contact Lynn at (530) 583-2113.
