He’s on a mission. Alan Masters of South Lake Tahoe, shown here on top of Mt Tallac, is hiking the entire 2,650-mile journey on the Pacific Crest Trail.
His goal is to raise $2.65 million for the Northern California Inland Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) by touching the lives of $100,000 people and urging them to donate a penny per mile. I’m in. Are you?
In 2012, Alan lost his father to diabetes after a 50-year struggle that eventually took both of his legs. Alan’s mission is to raise awareness about the challenges that diabetics face including the challenges that his own father faced throughout his life, as well as raising much needed funds for diabetes research.
“By through-hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail, I hope to inspire others to do great things and hope to bring an understanding to the fastest growing disease in the world, diabetes”, says Alan.

Follow Alan’s journey on www.crestblessings.com as he travels north from the Mexican border to the Canadian Cascades, hiking six million steps and over 2,650 miles on six-month journey.
About Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
