These chicks are on a roll.
Brought together by their passion for cycling and helping their community, they created the Tahoe LUNA Chix, a non-profit organization that raises funds to support local and national breast cancer programs.
In 2008, Tahoe LUNA Chix has granted more than $11,500 to local breast cancer programs.

Last year the event raised $27,500! In 2008, these funds allowed Tahoe LUNA Chix to support two local projects including the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center’s “Exercise for Energy” program. Through this grant, 50 women inflicted with breast cancer will receive free exercise rehabilitation services not normally covered by insurance. This innovative program teaches cancer patients how to exercise and discusses important health topics and services like nutrition, yoga and physical therapy.
Another grant has been given to the Reno Cancer Foundation to provide $500 to 10 women with breast cancer from Truckee or the North Shore to help cover the costs of life’s necessities such as medical services, food, rent, gas cards, etc.
Throughout the summer, Tahoe LUNA Chix offer free women’s bike clinic, and mountain biking and road cycling group rides. And that’s not all. They also help with other local rides and races, and volunteer their time by trail building, mentoring and coaching.
