Through the photographic medium, Beata & Eric Jarvis strive to capture the timeless, enduring, and often, elusive soul of our planet.
They seek to crystallize their vision in the photographic print, not only for themselves, but also for others to enjoy.
“The American West: Simple Brilliance” by photographers Eric and Beata Jarvis will be on display August 27 through September 29 at North Tahoe Arts.
Through their passion for knowledge, for photography, and for one-another, they are able to harness a level of artistic purity, which only those driven to experience life to the fullest can achieve. From a morning dewdrop on a blade of grass to a sunset panorama across the Grand Canyon, Beata & Eric find inspiration in all of nature’s joys and mysteries.
This September, the Jarvis’ have chosen to celebrate the grandeur of the American West with images from their travels. It looms as one of the world’s great destinations for photographers, painters and artists. Awe-inspiring mountains, ancient rock formations and bottomless canyons appear like mirages in the purple dawn. As generations have wandered these lands, they have felt compelled to express their wonder through art. This inspiration has not faded with time.
About Eric and Beata Jarvis
Eric and Beata Jarvis have ventured into the very heart of the West, camping and exploring throughout the mountains, valleys and deserts, striving to capture images that redefine the American ideals of grandeur, beauty and ruggedness. They feel that, “as photographic artists, we have both opportunities and obligations. The opportunity is to explore at will; the challenge is to present the beautiful and the pristine so as to promote their conservation and preservation.” By spending time both in the iconic places such as Yosemite or Monument Valley and also seeking out areas that are hidden from the public view, they have rediscovered the simple brilliance of this vast region.
Whether they are among the ruins of ancient temples at Angkor or at their home in Lake Tahoe, the Jarvis’ commitment to preserving the treasures they find is unwavering. Eric hails from Northern California but has found inspiration for his imagery throughout the world. He and Beata met on a beach in Hungary near her hometown, a chance encounter that has propelled them together in their explorations.
Their divergent backgrounds, personalities and interests lead them on different paths photographically and artistically, but their shared love for the Earth and its creatures harmonizes their imagery. This allows Beata & Eric to present their work collectively as a dynamic team.
The Jarvis’ find hidden treasures that possess a mystic quality, perhaps in a nameless seasonal waterfall or in finding a new approach to a familiar scene. Please share in Eric and Beata’s vision and experience the American West in a different light.
