Fantastical and Botanical illustrations Art Show
by Kristen Schwartz
August 1-8, 2008
In the cabin next to the Cultural Arts Store near Valhalla Grand Hall
located at the Tallac Historic Site in South Shore
11am to 4pm daily
Kristen Schwartz, who is well known for her fantastical illustrations, started out as a botanical illustrator.
Then, one day she branched out and added a faery to her botanicals to give it a little character. A story, if you will, to help us learn and understand the importance of our surrounding environment and plants to our health and daily livelihood.
Alas! Fantasticals were born. Like Cave Rock Woman pictured here who teaches us about the original inhabitants of Tahoe - the Washoe and wildlife - and the geographic feature located on the East Shore that is both a physical and spiritual landmark for us all.
To see Kristen’s wide range of talent from botanicals to fantasticals, head to Valhalla August 1st - 8th.
Kristen is also raising money for Tahoe: Lost & Found. A portion of all her sales are going to help raise money to replace South Lake Tahoe library books lost in the homes affected by the Angora Fire last summer.
Be sure to stop by and learn more about this community wide fundraising project and the Art Auction taking place September 19 at Valhalla.
