This may be a first anywhere.
Angel-assisted thru hikes on the TRT.
15 days of pure bliss….. or the closest you can get hiking 165 miles.
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is now accepting applications for the “official” 2008 thru hike.
2008 Annual Fund Raiser Thru-Hike Event
July 26 - August 9
- A “supported” 15 day backpacking trip on the Tahoe Rim Trail - 165 miles total.
- 2 groups of 15 people. One group will start at Tahoe Meadows (SR 431), and the other at Marlette Campground. Both will travel clockwise.
- Each group will have 2 to 3 guides.
The best part about this organized trip is the support by “trail angels”.
Trail Angels are volunteers and staff members that appear every 2 to 3 days with food, fuel and water (if needed). They even take out your trash which equals lighter packs and happier campers!

This is the 8th year the Tahoe Rim Trail Association has offered the thru hike. The thru hike is definitely a worth while challenge that has left many with life long memories. It is also one of the TRT’s best fund raisers. The $1,500 from each participant goes directly towards the continued planning, construction and maintenance of the 165 mile multi-use trail.
