Stranded.
My Subaru died on Hwy 89 between Squaw and Truckee (you know the 13 mile stretch). There was no place to get cell reception to call AAA.
Hmmmm…Bruce Olson Construction was just up the way.
I always wondered what was inside that “cabin”.
Good people, I found.
Taylor and Bob Olson were extremely hospitable and helpful. When AAA was 2 hours late, I moseyed back to BOC to make another call. When the receptionist left for the night, she handed me a bottle of water for the duration of the wait. One more hour.

While I waited on busy Hwy 89 next to the raging Truckee River I had time to think.
Not that I had any doubt, but the entire experience made me feel good - really good - about living here.
Especially to meet long-time locals who kindly and patiently dealt with an inconvenience.
While I learned Bruce has been building custom homes in Tahoe for over 34 years, I also learned that his Scandinavian roots explain his trademark “story book” custom homes. Bruce’s distinguished style stems from his dedication to preserving Tahoe’s classic architectural period of the early 1900’s with his Scandinavian craftsmanship that are found in projects like Pole Creek and The Boat House today.

Thanks guys!
(The AAA guy - a Kings Beach native - drove me to my door in So. Shore. I love Tahoe!)
