YouthART Camp Now Enrolling

This is no ordinary summer camp.

At this camp children are taught how to express themselves through art.

And, it sounds like the instructors and local artists who teach the classes have as much fun as the kids!

YouthART starts July 7.

“The camp is really fun,” states YouthART coordinator Sally Osborn, ” I look forward to seeing the kids every summer.”

YouthART camp offers a hands-on art experience to elementary age youth from all over the North Tahoe and Truckee region, as well as from the Bay Area.

Classes are taught by local artists and instructors who excel at teaching children the joy of ceramics, printmaking, painting, fiber art, earth art, book/journal making, jewelry, pastels, wire sculpture, and batik.

Best of all, the student/teacher ratio is small, insuring that the children receive the benefit of individual instruction in addition to the attention from volunteers who assist with the classes.

Anne Haley, Executive Director of North Tahoe Arts, comments about the energy surrounding the camp, “Our YouthART camp was created in a direct response to cutbacks in school art curriculum in the local districts; so many kids come here for the creative outlet they missed during the school year. Everyone here is excited to try new projects, and every year the camp gets better and better. We’ve already had a lot of interest.”
