Learn how to transcend photography with this fun and powerful art form at these outdoor summer workshops.
THE ART OF SKETCHING
An outdoor workshop series with local illustrator Kristen Schwartz.
Every Saturday and Sunday
July 19 - September 28*
9 am to noon
- $75 for Saturday 3 hour workshop
- $145 for Saturday and Sunday
All art materials are provided.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner to Advanced and everything in between. Only 8 people per class. Multi-day discounts for consecutive days.
Whatever your skill level, sketching will increase your ability to translate what you see and feel into powerful visual representations of your experiences.
- Learn techniques to record a variety of special moments with economy of stroke.
- Discuss essential equipment.
- Explore your media.
- Form a connection with your subject matter by using a deeper form of wisdom to “see” and not just to “look”.
This workshop is designed so that it can be taken multiple times. Each time you take it you will build your skills. If you like, bring a towel to sit on. There will be light walking on nature trails near the lake and in sandy areas at the lake.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Kristen Schwartz is a local illustrator known for her botanical illustrations and her depiction of local mythical personages such as Cave Rock Woman and Lake Mother. Her illustrations have been published in many different forms and is featured on Tahoe Arts and Mountain Culture (here!) and www.bluelaketahoe.com.
