She lives an animated life.

Literally.

Meet Corrie Francis - freelance animator, photographer and artist.

Corrie has successfully blended her fascinating life of world travel and art into a burgeoning career in Animation and commercial film. Her animation “emphasizes the integration of digital and traditional mediums and a dialogue between technique and content.”

Corrie is also an accomplished photographer.

Her photograph, Winter Sunset (left) originated from the aftermath of the Angora Fire.

In her own words:

In the aftermath of the summer’s chaos, I felt a quieting in the community. Life began to resume its revolutions, paperwork began to move through the labyrinth of filing folders as burnt out lots waited patiently. I read these words last fall, following the fire as the first snows began to cover the black ground. As the ground and forests waited, barren in black and white, the winter skies blazed in reflection of the past, anticipating a natural beauty that would grow out of tragedy. This image, and the events of the past year, bring to mind the deep and subtly hopeful words of Rainer Maria Rilke in “O Lacrimosa”:

Ah! But the winters. The earth’s
mysterious turning within.
Where around the dead,
in the pure receding of sap,
boldness is gathered.
The boldness of future
springtimes.

This first spring and summer after the Angora Fire, is one of many future springtimes.

About Corrie:

Corrie Francis is a freelance animator, photographer and digital artist from South Lake Tahoe. She grew up in the Bay Area, and spent summers and winters exploring the Sierra with her family before her studies, films and artwork swept her around the world. After spending time in New Hampshire, Italy, Cameroon, New Zealand and Los Angeles, she final settled in the familiar territory of South Lake Tahoe to better explore her first “standing place of the heart.”

“As an animator, I am an artist of movement and the landscapes that surround me seep into my mentality and come out in my artwork. My digital montages are my impressions of the world seen through the passage
of time. As I wander the woods, I am absorbed into the textures of light and leaf. I wonder what it would be like to see trees and mountains as they see themselves, with eyes that span the seasons for centuries.”

Corrie is currently teaching and working in the Tahoe area as she begins working on her next animated short film. Additional photographs and artwork are available for viewing at www.corriefrancis.com.

All prints are for sale in various sizes in both limited and open editions.
