“Amazing footage!”
“I’m so glad they took so many pictures of the riding and people.”
“The outfits are going full circle.”
Just a few of the comments heard after watching the movie “Klunkerz” at the 2007 LT Bike Film Festival in South Shore.
If you missed it, you can still see the early mountain bikes and pioneers from Marin County on a few websites, like this photo taken by Dean Bradley.
One of the best is Charlie Kelly’s website. Charlie was one of the original Marin riders along with Joe Breeze, Gary Fisher, Fred Wolf, Otis Guy, Tom Ritchey, Wendy Cragg and Alan Bonds.
He also created the Fat Tire Flyer, the original mountain bike magazine started in 1980. And, he was the chief roadie for the Sons of Chaplin.
If you like bikes and culture - especially the 70s in the Bay Area - you must check out his website.
It’s a work of art.
But, be warned. You’ll spend an hour at least on it.
