Delicioso y Cultura. Maria Bonita in South Shore.

bonita.JPGI just love finding new places to eat in Tahoe.

Especially ones that resurrect a part of town otherwise overlooked.

Like this new local Mexican restaurant in South Shore near the toy store and another favorite, Orchid’s Tai.

Maria Bonita Mexican Grill is a true local establishment recently opened in the Hill’s Center next to Dr. Parks, DDS.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and dishes that won’t break the bank. A full bar serves authentic Mexican drinks in addition to margaritas, beer and wine.

Maria Bonita claims they take pride in their Mexican heritage and cooking culture, and it shows.

Don’t miss:

  • The homemade corn tortillas. But, you’ve been warned. They are addicting.
  • Tacos - fish, beef and pork - about $1.50 each, served on white or MB’s homemade corn tortillas. Get the corn.
  • The pork dishes and enchiladas with just the right amount of real Mexican cheese and sauce that doesn’t mask the perfectly spiced meat.
  • Salsa Bar. Instead of drenching their dishes, the salsa bar with about 8 different tastes and temps lets you enjoy the different authentic sauces.

Open daily from 7am to 11pm for lunch and dinner.
