Sara L. Smith resides in Kings Beach and works in a variety of media. She is an easel painter, a muralist and an illustrator, and works primarily in acrylic on a variety of surfaces. Sara also works in pen and ink, watercolor, oils, collage, and fiber. Sara is well known for her illustrious murals featured in several businesses, homes and public spaces. And she is currently illustrating a children’s book series.
Although her work encompasses a range of imagery, it touches on consistent themes such as the complex relationship of the individual to society and self.
Carole Sesko describes her art as”contemporary mixed media” as she constantly explores her never ending fascination with texture, form, and color. She primarily applies acrylic paints and mediums onto wood, canvas, metal, paper, and most often mixes new materials with recycled objects, sometimes to create context and sometimes not.
Her most recent collection of art delves into abstraction, while she aims to “make something visually enticing like a rich plate of dessert”.
