Help build a new segment on the TRT from Tahoe City to Brockway.
Part of National Trail Days, June 7.
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association, in cooperation with the US Forest Service and REI, will host a National Trails Day event on the Tahoe Rim Trail, Saturday June 7, from 9 AM until 3 PM joining American Hiking Society’s nationwide celebration.
The event will start in Tahoe City off highway 89, at 64-Acres park on Hwy 89 just 0.25 mi south of Hwy 28. From there, the volunteer trail crews will move to the work site at the Tahoe City North Trailhead across from the Fairway Community Center.
This year, volunteer work will focus on building new trail!
The project is a reroute of the Tahoe City to Brockway segment and will incorporate scenic views and a more environmentally sensitive layout. Tasks will be available for volunteers interested in all levels of physical ability, from easy to strenuous.
Families are welcome and lunch will be provided for all trail workers! The Tahoe Rim Trail will also be hosting guided hikes.
To participate, please register by June 6th with our online events calendar at www.tahoerimtrail.org or by calling Jill Falman at 775-298-0239.
Volunteers must wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, boots and work gloves; bring sunscreen, bug spray and plenty of water. Hard hats and trail tools will be provided.
