Cathy McClelland from Kings Beach has drawn and painted most of her life. She works in various painting mediums and her work encompasses many themes, from the ethereal and magical, to animals, scenes of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, lush jungles, deserts and places in between.
“Nature and the mystery of the universe play a big part with my inspiration. I like to weave the two together in my creations, hoping to inspire others to enjoy the beauty of nature and the wonderful creatures around us. Our world is full of miracles and magic, we just need to recognize the beauty and truth of this, and bring it into our lives and into our hearts. I hope that my artwork can be a contribution to others in that direction.” Cathy’s magical paintings, giclees, matted prints and cards will be on display and she will be happy to share her enthusiasm and inspiration with all who come.
Karen Frances and Terri Lowey, illustrator and author respectively, will be on hand to sign copies of their new book “The Secret of the Wizard’s Wand”. Karen Frances from Truckee has teamed up with Reno author, Terry Lowey, to create the first in a series of 45 books for children focusing on the power of positive thought. “The message of this first book is that you can change how you feel by changing how you think,” Lowey, a full-time marriage and family therapist said. “And learning that changed my life.”
This is the first children’s book Karen Frances has illustrated and the second book in which she has been published. Frances used her three grandchildren as models. “Working with Terry Lowey as the illustrator of these uplifting children’s stories is an exciting opportunity. My artwork could enhance emotional healing and help teach the awareness required for a child to realize that solutions to life’s challenges can be discovered within his or herself.”
All three women will be at The Rainbow Bridge in Fountain Court in the Village at Squaw Valley, Saturday, March 22nd from 4-7 pm. Complimentary glass of organic wine from Uncorked and refreshments will be served.
